Cinco son las zonas lecheras productivas del país, pero sólo dos de ellas -Los Lagos y Los Ríos- están siendo rentables y la preocupación en el sector se ha incrementado, porque las tres restantes representan el 20% del volumen recepcionado por la industria a nivel nacional.
De acuerdo a la información contenida en el avance del boletín de la leche de la Oficina de Estudios y Políticas Agrarias (Odepa), la entrega de leche fresca a nivel nacional mostró un crecimiento de 5,8% a mayo. Sin embargo, si se analiza el detalle por región la situación es diferente.
La Región Metropolitana registra cinco meses en terreno negativo y acumula en este lapso una baja de 8,4%, hasta los 44,1 millones de litros, mientras que en mayo cayó un 8,6%.
Prácticamente una realidad similar se observa en el Biobío, donde las entregas de este alimento retrocedieron en los últimos cuatro meses, y registran una baja acumulada de 5,2%, hasta los 75 millones de litros. En tanto, en el quinto mes del año, la recepción de esta región bajó a su vez un 6,9%.
En La Araucanía la situación es más compleja, ya que se evidencia de igual manera una sostenida caída de los volúmenes recepcionados durante el año, con un resultado acumulado negativo para todos los meses entre enero y mayo de 16,8% y un total de 47 millones de litros y en mayo el retroceso fue de 17,8%.
Rodrigo Lavín, presidente de la Federación Nacional de Productores de leche (Fedeleche), comenta que “junto con sensibilizar a autoridades e industrias sobre esta realidad”, han promovido entre los productores la asociatividad “como un mecanismo para optimizar economías de escala y mejorar la comercialización de la leche”, para enfrentar la situación.
Respecto a cómo prevén el cierre del año, en términos de recepción el ejecutivo es cauto y dice que es muy temprano para hacer proyecciones, ya que todavía falta conocer qué ocurrirá con la producción en primavera – verano.
Importaciones récord
A mayo las importaciones de productos lácteos subieron 78%, llegando a US$ 140 millones. Expresadas en litros equivalentes, anotaron un récord de 340 millones de litros, un 69% más respecto al volumen importado en los primeros cinco meses de 2016.
