Dessa forma, apesar da grande importância para a indústria de alimentos, a taxonomia do grupo Lactobacillus casei ainda permanece confusa (2), uma vez que as requisições referentes à nomenclatura das espécies que compõem esse grupo permanecem pendentes pela Comissão Judicial (14,19).
